The title says it all, 'Breakers and Bleaters' = wild waves and bleating 'baa' of sheep. After her previous magical exhibition , 'Salty', Wendy Sara once again expresses her exquisite artistry in atmospheric seascapes, with crashing surf on rugged rocks and sandy beach in the salt sea air. And around the rural environment of heathery hills and open meadows are flocks of sheep and fluffy lambs. Such charismatic 'portraits' of Boop and woolly friends, with quizzical expressions on their cute black and white faces. Do visit the Whitespace gallery this weekend to see Wendy's showcase - poetic paintings to capture the Sea. Sheep. Silence. Storm.

Wendy’s paintings evoke the raw beauty and emotional depth of the sea with remarkable finesse. Her seascapes capture the movement, texture, and light of turbulent waters through layered brushwork and subtle tonal shifts. Each piece offers a contemplative balance between realism and expression, inviting viewers into a dynamic yet serene world. As a collector, I value her consistent thematic vision, technical skill, and the evocative power that makes her work a compelling addition to any art collection.

I've bought 2 of Wendy's paintings to date and intend to add more to my collection. Wendy's art represents oodles of skill and personality. Her landscapes really capture the unique atmosphere and light of rural Scotland, and her sheep portraits have a calm and playfulness, which I love. I'm particularly drawn to her impressive seascapes, which skillfully capture the dynamic movement and turbulence of sea around the West Coast as well as the colour and light which is so unique to that part of the world.
I really look forward to her next exhibition!

Wendy Sara very cleverly captures both volume and movement in her pieces. Each is unique and engaging, with clever focal points and highlights. Very few artists can both calm and invigorate the senses at the same time but Wendy manages this seemingly with ease. Masterful painting.

Salty: Bodies of Water is the perfect title for this delightful and dramatic showcase of Scottish seascapes by Wendy Sara. This collection of large and small scale paintings are well displayed at the Dundas Street Gallery with space to stand back and study the amazing perspective of the distant horizon or a hazy island across the sea. Immerse yourself in an evocative journey around the Hebrides, from Gigha and Iona to Tiree and south to East Lothian and the Bass Rock at North Berwick. Here are wild waves such as Chop and Dance with Me, as well as calm. serene, scenic views. Here are days of bright sunshine and murky sea fog, flying birds and boats on the beach. Around the gallery too is an anthology of poetry, submitted to Hame-ish Arts, by writers inspired by studying Wendy's paintings. These capture both the vision of light, salty sea air and sky, but also the personal emotional response.

I don’t just like Wendy Sara’s paintings; I believe them. In her captivating seascapes, Wendy
does not represent the sea but embodies it, capturing its raw, unfiltered energy, translating it
into a powerful visual narrative, inviting the viewer into an intimate dialogue with the natural
world. Her compositions craft an atmosphere, whether serene or brooding, or a meditation on
the delicate balance between calm and storm, they speak to the inherent beauty and danger of
the sea and its ever-changing temperament that evokes a sense of both serenity and tension.
Wendy invites you to feel the power of nature. She doesn’t just show the sea; she lets you
experience it through her mastery of colour and texture that reveals a remarkable ability to
bring movement and emotion to her seascapes. Wendy’s use of cool, contrasting tones gives
her work an almost ethereal quality, where the sea’s energy is both powerful and tranquil.
Her attention to detail is dynamic yet controlled in the atmospheric effect of cloud and rolling
wave, of light and shadow that suggests a natural world on the verge of transformation, a
moment frozen in time.
A Wendy Sara composition is a captivating sensual experience that reflects a keen
understanding and intuitive sensitivity towards her subject and Wendy’s mastery prowess of
capturing it on canvas. Truly wonderful.

I have 2 of Wendy's seascapes and I only have to look at them to feel calm. I love the way she captures the power of the waves alongside the calm stability of the horizon. It validates my experience of life: turbulence and uncertainty alongside the ongoing hope and resilience in humanity and in the beauty of creation.
